As predictte I see Tataniano has indeed been cut across the board for the Arkle depite beating absolutely nothing. As low as 8s with paddy Power, generally 10s and still 12s in the odd place.
Shocking from the bookies that.... |

| Of the two recent performances I was much much more taken with the way Sizing Europe won his race than how Tataniano performed yesterday. Yesterday's run left me decidedly flat and thinking that he has to improve by a good margin still to become a true arkle contender. |

It reminded me of a certain horse Nicholls had for the Arkle last year. That didn't work out very well either. _________________ Roll Of Honour

I didn't see the race so it's interesting you both thought his performance was underwhelming.
Looking forward to seeing how the next few weeks pan out, see what else appears. |

He ran well and jumped smopthly and quickly yesterday, but beat absolutely diddly squat, whereas although it was Harchibald's first chase also it was a higher calibur of horse that he beat.
I'd be on Sizing Europe's side but to say the horse yesterday wasnt impressive is a bit harsh. He looks a lot better than Tantien or whatever his name is from last season |

last years hope Tatenen was always one I thought Nicholls asked too much of. This horse had enough stamina as a 3yo to run 2nd to Francheok in the grade 1 juvenile hurdle at Chepstow run at New Year on a bog, he was never ever going to be quick enough for the Arkle.
Whilst I didn't expect him to fall he was always one to avoid for me.
However, I suspect he may be a decent animal this year if he gets soft going and a step up in trip. Remember Mr Nicholls ran a certain "star" over 2m at Cheltenham once before and he fell - safe to say he has progressed since then....
Sorry for deviating from the Arkle.... I personally doubt we've seen the winner for next year as yet. |
