I have had a very speculative yankee, to very small stakes, but as the accumulator pays a whopping 17,225/1 with William Hill those small stakes could be turned into a large profit. Being the sentimental fool that I am I have, in a couple of instances, let my heart rule my head and gone for -
Prem - Arsenal 10/1
Championship - Ipswich Town 11/1
League 1 - Leeds Utd 7/2
League 2 - Torquay Utd 28/1
Premier. West Ham 15/1 PLUS 34. My team but the worst home shirts ever.
Championship. Foxes 20/1 PLUS 22. Home team.
Div 1. MK dons 20/1 PLUS 9. I can see them winning division.
Di2 2. Burton 20/1 PLUS 32. Quite often conference sides do well on their first season as there is not a great deal of diference between the two. Plus 32 seems over generous.

OnlyOne, you have just highlighted a trend that I meant to mention a couple of weeks ago but forgot and is one of the reasons why I'm tipping Torquay for promotion. The other being I'm a sentimental fool and love the place.
Anyway since the inception of the Conference Play-Off Final (when the number of teams promoted to Football League was increased to 2) 6 seasons ago 50% of the winners of said play-off have gone up in their first season in League 1 (Doncaster, Carlisle and Exeter last year). If you only concentrate on those who won the play-off final and had League experience this increases to 60% went up in first season in League 2 (3/5 as Morcambe had never played in League before).
On trends therefore the % chance is 50-60% for Torquay going up and the bookie chappies are offering 7/1!!!
I did actually toy with Torquay but the points offered did not appear as generous.
Have thrown in another win yankee.
Prem: Arsenal 8s sadly. I jsut want them to win it if, not that its a problem, west ham don't.
Championship. West Brom. 11/2. Not a bad team and of the 3 that went tdown the best looking in terms of confidence. Newcastle look a shambles and if Boro have a bad start I feel Gareth would leave. Decent bloke though. ( Bit too quick to do a pizza advert in 1996).
1st Division, Cannot get away from MK Dons 9s.
2nd divsion. Have gone for the hype of Notts County at 5s.

Here's a question for all the knowledgeable scribes out there. What is the best bet re the 2009/10 football season?
As regular readers of the Chuckle will know I am a novice when it comes to football punting (only had a handful of bets last season) and was totally amazed when I looked on Oddschecker earlier in the week and saw that there were about 50 markets up and running re the Premiership and about 25 for each and every other League in England and Scotland!
I did think about saying Hull City at 4/1 to finish bottom of the Prem, or Ipswich Town at 10/1 to win the Championship however in the end the best bet in the opinion of my good self is Torquay United to be promoted from League 2 at 7/1.
What is everyone else's choice???
Ipswich and Torquay!
