I wouldn't rule him out just yet from challenging around Kempton in December. It's a flat 3m and its well known that some horses have been able to get that trip but failed at a similar distance on other tracks.
We will find out in due course if something did go amiss, but to me it just looked like he was out there for a pipe opener and then when the gas was low then just coast home. Ground wasn't the best either.

If you look in his previous form you'll see he has plenty form on softer going. And indeed at shorter trips.
More I look at this I think the RP chase was a one off. Probably not a coincidence that AP was up for his two wins last season and his good run at Aintree.
