Was very impressed with his performance and attitude in today's Racing Post Trophy. Smart little colt. Complete ball of muscle, with a sparkling turn of foot.
Shortest priced winter favourite for the Derby since Celtic Swing.
He was impressive on softish going but I'm waiting already for the overhyping to begin. Even yesterday Aiden O'Brien was saying how he has an electric turn of foot, and a mile won't be a problem next year before stepping him up in trip. Queue the Sea The Stars comparisons. _________________ 'Our tactic is to equalise before the other team scores'
I'll take the 2nd out of that race, travelled so, so well, compared to the Acomb at York. 25's with Skybet.
He'll go close at Epsom, if not win it, and then the Leger. _________________ I bet Jamie is the only one in the Spencer household that gives a bad ride!

Just been able to watch the race and have to say that he did win very well, putting in a performance that reminded me very much of how Crowded House won last year.
On that evidence though I would not consider him Derby material, as dunfie says, too much speed. Definitely a miler, maybe 1m2f horse.
The last couple of Derby's have been won by horses that were best over 10f. Both races were a crawl to halfway followed by a sprint so I wouldn't see his speed as a negative. It might be the only 1m4f race he ever wins but he is certainly classy enough. _________________ Thinking differently is the only way to win at this game. Even if it makes you look a fool sometimes!

big statement tetinj. You really think Sea The Stars was better at 1m2f than 1m4f? Derby and Arc would suggest otherwise to me?
Dunfie, the only reason I say that is that the Derby was a sprint so his stamina was never tried and in the Arc it was again a bunched finish with little separating the majority of the runners again suggesting another sprint finish. Add to that John Oxx's original doubts over his stamina and a campaign predominantly over 10f and I think it's fair to conclude 10f was his best trip. _________________ Thinking differently is the only way to win at this game. I just think his two best wins in the two biggest fields were over 1m4f, so don't think he has any questions to answer at that distance.
In the Arc there were pacemakers aplenty, but I agree that in the Derby Ballydoyle tried to slow it down, assumedly for Rip van Winkle. Not knowing the times for both races, and how they compare with historical renewals I can't comment any further than that.
