I still maintain that Master Minded 'emptied' in that Aintree 20 furlong heat. He went from cruising all over Voy Pur Ustedes to being out on his feet in a matter of strides. I don't think that it can be attributed solely to him having had a run 3 weeks previously.
However, as you say age may blunt some of his speed and therefore increase stamina.
Barney, Old boy :-) Nicholls always maintains that he winded himself at that 2nd last at Aintree, hense the way he stopped, if you watch the reply he did hit it hard!
Plus, he was only 5 at the time, horses do establish more stamina as opposed to speed as they age. _________________ I bet Jamie is the only one in the Spencer household that gives a bad ride!

He winded himself because he was already empty. The horse is one of the best jumpers I have ever seen, so a mistake like that would have been down to the stamina issue. This doesn't mean that I don't think he could develop the stamina required to win over further, just that it is one of the few question marks this horse does have. At this stage, having a 4 or 5 time winner of the QMCC really does appeal, rather than trying to turn him into a GC winner.
