All have been named:
Red Ransom ex Kalinka - named Kalinova, in training with Fanshawe
Royal Applause ex Ffestiniog - named Harlech Castle in training with Cole
Marju ex Baralinka - named Marbles - in training with Fanshawe
Alflora ex Vent D'Aout - named Mithian - not in training - just been gelded!
Polish Precedent ex Generous Diana - named Warsaw Waltz - in training with Given
It's early days yet, but all are doing well. Marbles was a bit naughty when being broken but is OK now. Fanshawe is very keen on Kalinova, more keen than he has been on any of ours since Sov!
We have a couple of others, one homebred Hernando ex Kabayil named Salsa Time (has bad conformation, not sure if she will stand training) and a Nayef ex Travesty filly named Lemon Sherbet, bought cheaply; both in training with Camacho.
An update on the above for those that are interested:
Kalinova - unfortunately disagnosed with kissing spine just before her scheduled debut and will never race. Due to be covered this year, along with her ½ sisters Soviet Song and Sister Act (remains in training). Will either be kept or sold, probably depending on whether Sovie takes this year.
Harlech Castle - won at 2 and ran other creditable races. Chipped a bone in his knee during his final race. Has had that removed and will be back this coming season. Very lazy, but very genuine, so hopefully will have some more fun.
Mithian - has moved to Len Lungo (not happy with this), with a view to a 3/4 year old bumper career. Is still a really big smashing sort.
Warsaw Waltz - ran few times last season; ignore her final race when she finished tailed off. Appeared to have them all in trouble turning in only to fall in a heap. Most of Given's two year olds went down with a bug. Will be well handicapped on her return.
Marbles - still the bad boy! Does not appear to be that interested in being a racehorse. Only enjoyment he gets out of life at the moment is having a roll and letting himself out of his box. Has moved to Nigel Tinkler and is currently on rest. If he matures, he might still be OK.
Lemon Sherbet - suffered slab fracture of knee. Recovering well.
Salsa Time - ran once, finishing placed. Her conformation then got the better of her and they had to stop. Is recovering well and will be back. Should have some fun if they can keep her sound.
Most of the above excluding Lemon Sherbert (not homebred) and Salsa Time (½ sister sadly died) have siblings due to go into training this season.
Have heard poor things about the ERC, apparently has left many members being owed money.
The only money that would be 'owed' to members is the dividend if they did not re-join for the year; the maximum it would have been over the last couple of years is about a tenner. I have not heard anything about this, but then again I have re-joined for the last 13 years! I am not exactly enamoured about the way the club is being run at the moment, but my affection for 'our' horses far outweighs that..
Tryptich - I love the stable visits, especially the annual visit to Kirtlington. Seeing the babies grow up and progress, hopefully onto winning is one of the most satisfying parts. Last year, seeing Sovie, totally chilled, out of a racing environment was amazing. Just hope her problems are behind her and she gets pregnant this year.
