Just a few points:
(i) a lot of the headings on the forum homepage haven't had any postings on them for at least a couple of months (e.g. Glorious Goodwood, Past Heroes, Antepost betting, Rugby, etc). Wouldn't it therefore be a good idea to delete these headings and therefore compact the forum a bit. This would make it look tidier and less daunting to new posters.
(ii) a lot of the stickys and announcements which are at the front of many of the pages are now completely out of date and would be better if they too could be removed.
(iii) could a private message not be sent to all members (especially those who have not posted for a while) extolling the virtues of the forum and encouraging more posts.
(iv) could the forum not be advertised or promoted on other message boards or potential areas of interest to new members.
(v) one thing that could attract new members is some sort of racehorse ownership syndicate or tipping advice.

I shall be keeping those, as at different threads are busy at certain times of the year.
Barney you are stating the obvious. When I get the time I tidy the forum. I do advertise. You cannot promote on other message boards unless given permission as it is seen in a bad light as though you are trying to pinch their members.
And the syndicate thing, we are just a small board, I don't think that is ever going to work unless we had a very busy board with alot of people who can afford to.
i have advertised on 606 and the forum is advertised on my blog there.
most forums are quiet at the moment.n/h is more popular than the flat,that there is no doubt
Forums do tend to be picking up at this time of the year.... as more folk spend more time indoors as it's cold and horrible outside...... not as some would have you believe that NH is more popular than the flat......
Anyway....... big can of worms and not for this thread!
If the members that were here rugulary posted (I'm as much to blame as anyone) then things would pick up a bit. I'm going to make a real effort in October!
Thanks for the feedback tho Barney, the forum could do with 'shrinking' IMO....

I think International Racing will be ok for that as its not a very busy part of the forum. Trying to reduce the different threads at the mo. And there doesn't seem to be much interest in it at the mo.
Yeah. I think NH is what the majority of people on here are interested in. If the had been more interest in the Breeders Cup I would of done a seperate thread.
