Up until now I've always supported Rafa when things have got a bit hard but after the last two games, it feels like my faith is gone. Our mediocre squad has been shown up, after five years of Rafa we have only 2 stars, and only one other player who can change a game (Benayoun). Our subs bench is a joke and it's not like we have a lot of injuries. Sadly Carra is looking past it and Skrtel seems to have completely lost his confidence. At least we have Agger back though. Our troubles can't simply be blamed on selling Alonso and signing a crocked replacement, the squad as a whole is too weak and we're playing badly. The point has been made that we didnt make a big deal of the beach ball incident... must have been because we were so awful anyway!
Rafa has always had his critics but the boos last night when he took Benayoun off were something else.
Confidence is so low at the moment, I am dreading Sunday.
I will be honest and tell you that I am not the greatest of Liverpool fans so my opinion will always be slightly biased.
To me, Rafa has always papered over the cracks with a wafer thin squad. You were a one man team for a long time and then finally one of his numerous Spanish signings worked out, Alonso. Then he finally signed a top notch forward in Torres and things were looking better. However if one of them left you were always going to be struggling and that has proved to be the case.
I am amazed they are considered title contenders every year when they have the worst depth to their squad of probably the top 6 or 7 teams in the league. Ngog, Lucas, etc, etc are poor players.
I have never been Carragher's number one fan. Last ditch saving tackles look great but all it means is the guy was out of position to start with (Sol Campbell is the same). He is now losing a pace or two and is getting found out too many times now. Drogba made a fool of him the other week.
Liverpool will probably still get out of the CL group and probably finish in the top 4, but it will be another year without the silverware. How long can it go on?
I actually quite like Ngog, he has a decent attitude and seems to have a good bit about him too. Didn't have a great game last night but I think he's a decent reserve striker. Still, we really look weak when Torres is out and to continuously play with a lone striker, it's asking a bit much for him to come in for one game and play on his own up front in the Champions League when he's been on the bench all season. Voronin is a waste of space and why we took him back I'll never know.
what you've got to look at is that all the other top teams play 4-3-3
Why arent we?
If someone like Mourhino comes in or Mancinni (wishful thinking but you've got to be looking at replacing with a better manager) the first thing they would do is man to man marking and change the formation then Liverpool immediately become a better team.
