Now that Nicholls has revealed that Kauto star needs a rest between his races how does that poor Haydock run now reflect on Sam Thomas and all those, including Nicholls, who effectively rubbished him after the race?
I've not seen any comment that exonerates Sam but surely he never stood a chance on the horse. The criticism was unprecedented and appeared to seriously affect his confidence for weeks thereafter.
Do you think Nicholls will have the balls to say sorry the mistake was mine not yours? _________________ Thinking differently is the only way to win at this game. Even if it makes you look a fool sometimes!

I don't think that Mr Nicholls believes that he has anything to apologise for. He is of the opinion that Kauto Star, although not at his best, would have won that day at Haydock Park had Sam not fallen off him at the last (ditto he feels the same about Big Bucks in the Hennessy).
I wonder if Sam will still be attached to the yard after the end of the season because as I said at the time you don't give an employee a public rollicking, and therefore destroy his confidence, like he was given if he features in your long-term plans.
lets be honest even half fit Kauto should have beaten that motley mob at Haydock.
So I agree with barney he probably feels he has nothing to apologise for.
I think Thomas is for the high jump at the end of the season. Been beaten on too many odds on shots this season and I agree that he is not that popular at present. His connection with Denman may be the only things that saves him, but I am pretty certain that Mr Nicholls is probably running his very beady eye over Aidan Coleman or possibly the wonderkid Townsend from Ireland, dont be surprised if either of these end up as Number 2 at Nicholls next season. _________________ Theres Only One Dickie Hills!
