GODOLPHIN, who are enjoying a fine spell of form, suffered a blow on Wednesday evening, when three-time winner Moonquake collapsed and died in his stable at Doncaster.

The four-year-old was due to have contested the 1m21/2f handicap at the course on Thursday.

The son of US-based stallion Mr Greeley won an extended 1m2f handicap at York in May and finished second to Perfect Stride in the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot next time out, before finishing in rear in the John Smith's Cup.

Godolphin's trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: "He was in his stable at the racecourse and suffered a heart attack. It was one of those unexpected things that can happen and is a shame, as he'd been a good servant."
