TALK of Group-winning sprinter/miler Major Cadeaux returning to the racecourse after being retired to stud earlier this year has sparked a row between his three former owners.
New owner Terry Holdcroft bought the five-year-old as a stallion prospect and is set to stand the former Richard Hannon inmate at his Bearstone Stud in Shropshire, but has had the son of Cadeaux Genereux treated extensively for his persistent leg problems and is now contemplating a comeback.
Of the three original owners, David Mort has no objection, but Tony Pickford and Norman Woodcock strongly oppose the idea.
Mort said: "Major Cadeaux was sold to Terry Holdcroft as a stallion but Terry's vet has worked miracles with him and is doing his darnedest to get him back to the course.
"On this matter I'm not singing off the same hymnbook as my fellow previous owners."
Pickford and Woodcock are adamant the horse should start a new career as a stallion.
