KAUTO STONE, a three-year-old half-brother to Gold Cup winner Kauto Star, won his second race in France on Friday.

Ridden by the experienced Christophe Pieux, Kauto Stone took the Prix Royal Junior, a 2m2f hurdle at Auteuil, with something in hand.

He hasn't always been the best of jumpers having fallen on two occasions in the past, but trainer Jehan Bertran de Balanda was delighted with this performance.

"He is a horse with a lot of quality and quite precocious,@ he said. "He fell after winning at Clairefontaine and I decided to take the cheekpieces off him today. I haven't decided on his future programme."

Took a big step to matching his illustrious half brother today after winning the group 2 Prix Georges de Talhouet-Roy Hurdle. Next stop is the group 1
Prix Cambaceres - juvenile championship hurdle. His part owner is very thankful they have resisted all offers for him so far so he can remain in France.
