At the age of 10, top class hurdler Harchibald could make his debut over fences Tipperary on Tuesday.

Quote:
"Harchibald has been jumping fences at home and jumping them well," said Meade, "but I'm not sure yet whether he will run on Tuesday."

For his swansong, wanted to give him a go as he schooled so well. If he enjoys it, why not?

He could just as easily hurt himself hurdling.

I find myself witha fence post up my @rse on this one I must admit, as I agree with all the posts above.
Pros.
He's enjoying schooling, he might get a few more wins, and he may aswell try as he's never actually going to win theChampion Hurdle now, and doesntstay a yard over 2miles, so why not.
Cons
He's 10, he owes the owner nothing at all, and my biggest worry is thatMr Meade must have used the phrase "I'll never run him on that ground again" about 6 times regarding this fellow, so who'se to believe he will not try and get him ploughing through the mud around Christmas at Leopardstown trying to win a 2m novice chase?

If Meade actually does only run him on faster going, on flat tracks, AND he is enjoying it, then I guess why not. Just don't try to make him an Arkle contender Noel please.....

Beaten by Sizing Europe by 17 lengths - Reports are that Sizing Europe was VERY impressive and didnt put a foot wrong when jumping.

Sizing europe cut to 8/1 for Arkle.

Trainer says he'll go 3 miles and will aim him for Gold Cup 2010.

Gold Cup this year? as in 5 months time?

He jumped very well, a good performance. I couldn't back him anti post, not with his injury problems.
