CAPTAIN CEE BEE, winner of the 2008 Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices' Hurdle, could return as a novice chaser as early as October from the injury that has kept him sidelined for more than a year.
Sent off at 17-2 for that Cheltenham Festival victory, Captain Cee Bee's win came as a surprise to owner J P McManus, whose retained rider Tony McCoy had opted to ride his other runner, Binocular. Before that win Captain Cee Bee had run in just two hurdle races due to connections not wishing to risk him on testing ground.
Unbeaten in three hurdle races after Cheltenham, Captain Cee Bee went to Aintree in April last year but was pulled up by McCoy in the Grade 2 novices' hurdle after breaking a blood vessel and has not raced since.
"Leg trouble ruled him out last season," said trainer Eddie Harty. "He came back to me on Friday and looks absolutely magnificent.
"He will be prepared for a novice chase campaign, but we won't be rushing him and will probably startback in late October or a bit later. He will tell us when he is ready."
I had a small punt on Betfair months ago for the Arkle, 50/1. Just hope he gets back safe and sound! _________________ I bet Jamie is the only one in the Spencer household that gives a bad ride!

He has been delighting his trainer Edward Harty ahead of his comeback compaign. He is set to go novice chasing this term.
Quote:
"All is going well with him but there are no firm plans as to where he'll reappear yet," said Harty.
"He's in good nick and everything is going according to plan so hopefully we'll see him out sooner rather than later.
"The plan is still to go novice chasing with him and he has done a bit of schooling, but that has been on the back burner a little as the ground has been quite fast.
"But he is pleasing us in every way, the Arkle is his long-term target and we'll play it by ear until then.
"I don't want to say when or where he'll reappear as there is obviously the ground to consider and there is not a huge amount of races that would suit him.
"I prefer the races to come to the horse than the horse be pushed to the races, but I couldn't say one word against him at the moment."
