Spent a pleasant morning at Tim Vaughan’s Pant Llin stables yesterday just off the main road between Cardiff and Bridgend. As we drove in at the top of the drive we had a beautiful view of the layout in front of us. The total area is 67 acres and  some of the most relaxed horses I’ve ever seen in a racing yard were much in evidence. The all weather gallop seen on the left  is some 30 metres longer than Paul Nicholls’ at Ditcheat and with virtually the same incline.

Hope the horseboxes have good brakes, bit of a drop underneath !

]

The yard newly resurfaced with tarmac , not sure how it will stand up to the Winter weather as water will run down across the slight slope and if it freezes? Two horse walkers tucked in the corner.

Staff busy cleaning up, the building on the left is the office.

We were shown round by assistant trainer Mark , this is two newly arrived horses from Venetia Williams yard .

Stan

And Flintoff who will possibly run in hurdles until the New Year, designed to protect his handicap rating for thge Grand National and who indeed might go there without a run

We went up to the gallops where a specially constructed mini covered grandstand made for excellent viewing as the horses came up the final incline.

Before returning to the bottom for a second gallop

View from the mini grandstand whilst we were waiting

Three horses to take note of, Moorlands Teri of whom big things are expected this season, certainly came up the hill without blowing , one who’s name I think was Dingbat who apparently is unexposed and finally Lucky Pearl who is now “extremely well handicapped”. Take note !!

Finally a bit of a scoop as far as I am aware, this week Michael Owen is sending two flat horses down to be trained at the jumping game as he intends to become more involved in that as well.
